As the summer holidays stretch on and autumn is a distant goal, now is the perfect time to load up your backpack and head out exploring. Whether you’re walking to the local park or heading further afield, a delicious picnic can turn a little outing into a memorable delicious day out. Even better, it doesn’t necessarily need lots of preparation if you’re trying to get everyone out the door!
Hotdogs are a classic family favourite. To enjoy whilst out and about, pop some Frankfurters into a Thermos flask and simply add some boiling water. They will be the perfect temperature by the time you’ve worked up an appetite! Pack up a bag of pre-sliced hotdog rolls, a handful of napkins and dig out a sachet of ketchup and you’ll have everything ready for a super quick, delicious and filling meal for all the family to enjoy. This is a particular favourite of ours for evening picnics and in the winter when you may fancy a warm meal.
If you’re looking for a more nutritiously balanced meal, couscous could certainly be the answer. Simply pour the required amount into a Tupperware container, sprinkle with your favourite herbs, spices or marinade and generously cover with boiling water finish by popping the lid on. In a separate container add your choice of additional ingredients, these can be added to the couscous container after 5-10 minutes or poured in just before you eat. Just remember to stir well and enjoy! Some of our favourite combinations include, roasted chicken with grilled peppers and tomatoes, tuna with tinned mixed beans and a soy dressing or feta cheese with olives and sundried tomatoes - simply let the contents of your fridge inspire!
For the ultimate grab-and-go picnic, only a pre-prepared hamper will do! Our Three Cheese Cool Bag even comes with the perfect travelling container, simply add drinks of your choice and possibly a freshly baked loaf and you have everything set for a romantic al-fresco meal for two!
