Our Top Tips for Seasonal Shopping

Autumn has barely begun, but with just over ten weeks until Christmas Day it’s time to start thinking about tackling your Christmas gift list. Millions of us now turn to online shopping in an attempt to escape the stress of the cold, dark nights of panic buying, and the torturous long queues that await in shopping centres up and down the country.

Here are a few top tips from our managing director, Ian Spicer, to help you navigate through the minefield of online shopping this Christmas.

1. Go for a company with a proven track record

When shopping online, make sure that you are using a company with a proven track record for providing quality products and customer service. Ideally you should look to purchase from sites that have a credible customer satisfaction score from an independent benchmark body such as Feefo. This will help to reassure you that the purchased product will be exactly what you expected, surprising and delighting the recipient in equal measure.

2. Save on delivery

Preparation is key here. Thinking about everyone you need to buy for this Christmas can seem daunting. However, instead of letting panic set in about when you’re going to have the time to make all the required purchases, make a list and group together those who share a common interest, such as food and drink. That way you are able to find multiple gifts from one site that are ideal for a number of people on your list. By ordering the gifts together, you may be able to save on your delivery costs too.

3. Discount codes

If you’ve decided to start your Christmas shopping early this year, you should be rewarded for your organisation, right?! Well we certainly think so, as do many other companies. Look out for early bird discount codes, such as your 15% discount code for all Spicers of Hythe luxury hampers at the bottom of this article.

4. Delivery times

This is very important when shopping online! Save yourself the embarrassment of turning up empty handed on Christmas Day because the perfect gift you’d chosen wasn’t delivered in time. At checkout be certain you are happy with the expected delivery date. Check reviews to be sure that the company has a proven track record of fulfilling delivery guarantees.

5. Where will it be delivered?

Are you surprising someone at work or is it to be opened on Christmas Day? If you decide to do your shopping in bulk, be sure that you are directing the correct gift to the correct address.

6. Price comparisons

When shopping online, you are able to do instant price comparisons by having numerous tabs open at a time. Take advantage of all of the information that is available at the end of your fingertips. You could save yourself a small fortune!
