We are delighted to announce the winner of our 2017 London Marathon Competition. Winner Sean Connolly was selected to receive a £100 donation to boost his fundraising efforts for Brain Tumour Research, along with a gift of a luxury, bespoke Spicers of Hythe hamper.
After the success of last year’s hamper competition, we wanted to celebrate those who had completed one of the greatest marathon events in the world again. The online competition was launched, encouraging marathon runners – and their friends and families – to post photographs with their finishers medals using the hashtag #RunSpicersRun.
The selected winner, Sean, who owns a family run grocery shop called Veg2You in Northamptonshire, ran the marathon to fundraise in memory of his friend Alan Mills. He completed the marathon in 4h 22m and managed to raise a huge £4,468.34 for Brain Tumour Research.
Managing Director of Spicers of Hythe, Ian Spicer commented, “Thank you once again to everyone who entered our competition – we loved looking through your celebratory medal photos. On behalf of the Spicers team, we’d like to congratulate all the marathon runners who completed the challenge of a lifetime! We hope Sean enjoys his well-deserved Spicers of Hythe hamper.”
Competition winner Sean added, “The marathon has been one of the best things I have ever done; very emotional, but also rewarding once you cross the finish line and receive the winner’s medal. It makes all the hard work and training sessions in the horrible winter months seem worthwhile.”
Sean continued, “It’s even more satisfying once you have completed the marathon and you can take a moment out to reflect on what an achievement it is to get to the finish line and pass your fundraising target. Thanks to Spicers of Hythe for the support!”
