Today, Friday 13th November 2020, is the 10 year anniversary of ‘Kindness Day UK’. Kindness UK is an independent, not-for-profit organisation with the goal of making kindness a greater part of everyone’s daily lives and increasing the awareness of positive benefits of kindness to health and the overall wellbeing of society. Taking part in this annual event couldn’t be easier, all you need to do is simply carry out or pledge a good deed or act of kindness.
The options and possibilities of kindness are as limitless as the joy they can bring but here are a few of our favourite ideas if you’re looking for some inspiration
A surprise gift is sure to brighten someone’s day, a hamper is always our first thought when we want to ‘surprise and delight’ and with over 65 to choose from we have one suitable for every occasion, taste or budget. If you decide to gift a hamper don’t forget to place your order by 20th November 2020 and quote EARLYBIRD to save 15%, hampers can be found here.
With our 90+ years of experience we fully appreciate that food gifts are always sure to be well received, if you didn’t want to gift a hamper this time you could always bake a few extra sweet treats so there’s enough to share with a friend or neighbour. Adjusting the weekly meal plan to include your loved one’s favourite a little more often is always a pleasant surprise after a long day.
If you wanted to opt more for a random act of kindness, how about setting yourself one (or more!) of these challenges,
- Pay a compliment the first three people you speak to tomorrow
- Write a thank you note to an outstanding member of your community
- Buy a coffee for a stranger
- Make a donation to charity, either financial or unwanted goods to the local charity shop
The fantastic thing about kindness is that, in many cases, it doesn’t need to cost much, or any, money or even much time but can truly brighten someone’s day and make a huge difference.
