We are delighted to announce the winner of our London Marathon Competition! Jennifer Thompson has received a £100 donation to boost her fundraising efforts for School for Parents, a charity for disabled children and their parents. Additionally, Jennifer has been gifted with a luxury, bespoke hamper.
We wanted to celebrate those who had completed one of the greatest marathon events in the world. Our Twitter competition encouraged runners of this year’s marathon – and their friends and families – to post photographs with their finisher’s medals using the hashtag #RunSpicersRun. We received a fantastic response on Twitter from the competition with over 40 entries.
The randomly selected winner, Jennifer, completed the London Marathon in 5 hours and 2 minutes, with her family watching proudly on the sidelines as she completed the 26.2 mile race. She has already raised over £500 for her chosen charity, School for Parents, a Nottingham-based charity which works with pre-school children with cerebral palsy, down syndrome and other communication delays. Jennifer was additionally raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
Our very own Managing Director Ian Spicer commented, “Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, it was great to see so many of your celebratory medal photos. On behalf of all the team at Spicers of Hythe, I’d like to extend my congratulations to everyone who completed the gruelling challenge and still managed to muster a smile at the end! We wanted to celebrate the tradition of fitness and fundraising, so it’s great to be able to boost Jen’s impressive fundraising efforts with our donation. We hope she enjoys her well-earned Spicers of Hythe hamper filled with little luxuries.”
Jennifer Thompson added, “Running the London Marathon was an amazing experience, the atmosphere was just incredible. What really made it special for me was knowing that I was raising money for two of my favourite charities, School for Parents in Nottingham and Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. This is why I am particularly excited to be the winner of Spicers of Hythe’s marathon competition – not only to receive a luxury hamper for me, which is wonderful, but a generous £100 to add to my fundraising for School for Parents too. The difference they make to the youngsters and their families is exceptional. Thank you Spicers of Hythe, you can be very proud to have donated to such a great organisation.”
Congratulations again Jennifer!
