So, you’ve organised all the Christmas gifts, delivered the cards and decorated every available inch of your house – now to entertain everyone whilst waiting for the all important visit from Santa! With many schools about to break up for the year and some restrictions on outings and get-togethers, check out our handy guide of festive entertainment within the family ‘bubble’.
Head to the kitchen! Whether you elaborately decorate a gingerbread house or get creative with biscuit cutters, creating food to be shared is a true pleasure for all to enjoy. Top tip –to create a beautifully decorated reindeer biscuit simply invert a gingerbread man cutter, ice antlers on the ‘legs’ and a face on the ‘tummy’.
Organise an online get together – we can fully appreciate that after a long Summer everyone’s feeling a little zoomed-out, but putting a festive spin on things, not to mention the opportunity to show loved ones your latest Christmas jumper, could make an online gathering truly memorable! Whether you prefer a seasonally themed treasure hunt, favourite board game or testing everyone’s Christmas knowledge in a themed quiz we feel that everyone needs to enjoy/ endure at least one more online gathering before biding farewell to 2020!
Treasure Hunts - Admittedly this could turn into a bit of a labour intensive option, but the joys bought from a socially distanced, local treasure hunt are sure to be the reward. From a festive decoration scavenger hunt of illuminated Santas and door wreaths to following carefully tucked away clues around your neighbourhood, all leading to a little treat or secretly prepared warm drink station – a festive walk could be all the fun you need.
Many local theatres and armature dramatic societies are hosting online pantomimes this year. Why not show your support, sit back on the sofa and shout at the screen until your heart’s content, safe in the knowledge that you’re helping to capture the baddies (with passionate “he’s behind you” warnings), supporting a local group during a difficult year, and you won’t even need to de-ice the car before embarking on the journey home!
We’d love to hear about your plans for the festive season ahead, tag us on Facebook or Twitter and help spread some festive cheer.
