Back for the 26th year running, the Faversham Hop Festival is a firm favourite amongst folk from across the county, with swathes of people descending on this historic market town for two days of free festival fun.
The Hop Festival started life as a celebration of the old hop-picking days in the area, when adults and children alike would flock to the town to wile away the evenings with music and stories. Since then it has turned into an annual event celebrating beer, dancing, food and music with all of the fun and frivolity of a classic fun fair. In more recent years there has been a big emphasis placed upon music during the event, and this year will be no different.
On the 5th and 6th September 2015 a number of stages will be erected throughout the charming town of Faversham, both in the town and in a selection of local pubs. These stages will play host to a variety of popular bands providing the soundtrack to what is sure to be an epic event.
A varied selection of stalls will also be dotted around the festival area, providing a selection of goods and souvenirs that are sure to tempt you to splash out. This includes some official Hop Festival merchandise, with the Harry the Hop mascot sure to be making an appearance. Well, it wouldn’t be the Hop Festival without him, would it?
There is also a family fun area returning to the festival for the fourth year running, making sure that all guests are kept suitably entertained – including a variety of family-friendly entertainment and rides to keep little ones happy.
If you want to make a weekend of it then head to the festival village at the Abbey School, where once again camping facilities will be available. Spaces for tents, campervans and caravans will be available, with toilets and showers available on site as well as entertainment on the Friday and Saturday evening.
