If you’re looking for free foodie-fun in Kent this spring then the Broadstairs Food Festival is just what you need. Put together entirely by a voluntary team this non-profit festival is a celebration of all things yummy, with a focus on supporting local trade and showing-off everything that Thanet and Kent as a whole has to offer.
The spring festival is coming around fast, and will be held from Saturday 4th April to Monday 6th April in the grounds of the gorgeous Pierremont Hall in Broadstairs, from 10am-5pm each day. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, with tons of deliciously tempting food and drink stalls, events and even an Easter bonnet competition to get the kids involved. The bonnet competition judging will be held on Monday 6th April, with prizes for the most colourful, most floral and most outlandish bonnets on show. Time to start bejewelling your bonnets!
The one thing that really makes this festival stand out is, of course, the food. Browse through stalls laden with everything from locally grown vegetables to luscious cupcakes, Kentish blue cheeses, European pies, hot pork baps, dried spice blends, ice creams, coffee beans, organic breads and much, much more, all washed down with a refreshing sip of Kent wines, ciders, ales and juices.
Just when you think it can’t possibly get any better there’s also a special tasting event at the spring festival to get even the most discerning of palates excited. Join the prosecco and cheese tasting hosted and sponsored by Emilia UK Ltd, where Vittorio Gentile, sommelier at the Theo Randall Hotel, will explore a range of prosecco accompanied by cheese and charcuterie plates. You definitely don’t want to miss it!
Now in its seventh year, the Broadstairs Food Festival is a firm favourite in Kent foodie’s calendars, and the 2015 events are sure to be no exception. With celebrity chats, cookery workshops, children’s activities, a pop-up restaurant, food trail, and of course the huge array of gorgeous food and drink stalls, the Broadstairs Food Festival is a winner for the whole family. If you can bear to share the tasty treats!
