Now we’ve accepted how quickly the darker evenings are drawing in and packed away the last of the Halloween decorations it’s inevitable that the presence of Christmas becomes more and more noticeable! Whilst festive celebrations may be a little different this year, it’s still important to start making preparations to ensure it remains a magical time, especially for children – no excuse to keep the Elf off the shelf!! Two years ago we ran a Facebook thread asking for our customer’s top tips for an organised Christmas; we’re still finding them helpful and super relevant, even in such an unusual year, so we hope you don’t mind us re-sharing the top 5 tips.
Preparation is key for a fun-filled family Christmas. To ensure nothing gets missed and no creative ideas get forgotten we find it really helpful to make a list of everything you need to complete and purchase in advance. Spicers tip – if November’s looking to be a quiet month, why not pre-order some Christmas gifts online or even try baking some festive treats that can be frozen – or just practice and test!
2. Special offers
Keep an eye out for offers, discounts and sales before the festive period. Online early bird specials can be a great opportunity to get the most out of your money, whilst still getting the item you want. Spicers’ early bird special offers 15% off all orders placed by 20th November, however you can select a delivery date of your choice if you wanted to delay dispatch until December - shop online here
3. Wrap as you go
I’m sure we’ve all left wrapping to the last minute on Christmas eve and been faced with a mountain of gifts and endless rolls of wrapping paper! Why not try wrapping your gifts as you purchase them? It saves a lot of time and allows you to enjoy Christmas eve without needing to rush. Alternatively companies such as Spicers will add a free message card to your order and deliver directly to the recipient to save you time and a trip to the post office.
4. Christmas cards
Writing Christmas cards can sometimes feel like a chore, but if November’s looking to be a quiet month this year why not write your Christmas cards early. They can always be put to one side ready for when you want to post. Top tip: to save time next year why not tuck the list with names and addresses in the back of your address book ready for next Christmas.
5. Shop online
Whilst we’re massive fans of shopping local (have been since 1926!), shopping online certainly has it’s benefits. Why not see if your local independent retailer has an online or Facebook shop to allow you to shop from the comfort of your own home. If you decide to gift hampers this year our website is packed with our full range of hampers carefully crafted to suit all tastes and budgets. Don’t forget to place your order by 20th November 2020 and quote EARLYBIRD to save 15%
